In a flame of fire
Take off your shoes ....
Me? Standing on holy ground?
I'm here on city sidewalk
Riddled with ills, care, concern
of loneliness, lack, despair.
Take off those shoes .
Old shoes of fear, of false trust
In matter's naming/claiming—
Shoes made to mire one down,
Shoes shaped to be earthbound.
Take off those shoes .
Obey the Lord's command,
And He shall give you new
sandals of salvation—
Firm-soled in faith, latched with love.
Bondage beliefs shall fall away.
Those Pharaoh thoughts will not hold sway.
You will see and more clearly see
The bush burning, bright, unconsumed.
Then you will
Run through valleys,
Scale mountaintops,
Walk over waves,
Step out on water
Right there—
On that city sidewalk.
