To grow in grace

Grace is essential to our lives. It's seen in the spiritual poise that enables us to face the challenges, even the tribulations, of human experience with a central peace in our hearts. It's expressed in a firm, resolute strength and a devotion to God's purpose that are not shaken, no matter how the storms may rage about us.

Grace comes to us directly from God—a divine blessing freely bestowed on all God's children. But our hearts must agree to accept the gift. When we're genuinely willing to have God's law govern every step of our lives, every activity, we come to realize that the holy influence of Christ, Truth, is already and always active in our consciousness. And we begin to see evidence of this in tangible ways.

God's grace actually changes our outlook on life. It redeems us. It changes the way we feel about our lives, the way we feel about others, the way we respond to others. It's no wonder that in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy wrote, "What we most need is the prayer of fervent desire for growth in grace, expressed in patience, meekness, love, and good deeds." Science and Health, p. 4.
