Thanks to a dear friend, our family was introduced to Christian Science when I was about thirteen years old. At that time there was a great need for healing in my experience. I had undergone extensive allergy testing, and the findings indicated that I was allergic to most of the basic foods. If any of the problem-causing foods were consumed, a migraine headache would ensue. It was considered necessary for me to take a medically prescribed drug, which was supposed to calm me. Absenteeism from school was common because of this problem. As a result, fear of getting sick consumed my thinking, and this fear carried over into almost every facet of my activities.

At this point Christian Science became a part of my life. My mother enrolled me in a Christian Science Sunday School, and I will always be grateful for the spiritual intuition of my teacher. She immediately responded to my need for healing by turning me directly to the Scriptures for an answer. The second Sunday I attended she asked me to read in class these words of Christ Jesus (Matt. 6:25): "Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?"

It was as though Jesus were speaking directly to me, and I accepted the truth of his declaration and the fact that it was true for me at that very moment. Instantaneous healing occurred that Sunday, and I recall telling my mother as we left church that I felt so clean inside. Truly, a spiritual cleansing had taken place, and from then on I rarely missed a school day because of illness. I can joyfully say that over the years I have suffered no ill effects from eating any type of food.
