When a practitioner prays
A new student of Christian Science loves what he is learning about God's goodness and care. But he may want to know more about the method of Christian Science treatment. There is nothing the least mysterious about it. Healing the sick and sinning through spiritually scientific means is best learned through prayer; through the regular study of the Bible and of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy; through Primary class instruction in Christian Science; and especially through our own demonstration of the rules of healing.
This editorial can only touch upon the unlimited ways a practitioner might approach the sacred responsibility of healing, but certain insights may be helpful. When a Christian Science practitioner prays for another, he is acknowledging the power of God to heal the situation. He is feeling the presence of the Christ-spirit. Such treatment in Christian Science is in no way associated with manipulative processes of the human mind.
