Spiritually unmoved, not upset
If something goes wrong, does it seem natural to get upset about it? We may sometimes think so. But there is an alternative. Let me share an experience along these lines that taught me a valuable lesson.
When I was sick with the flu some time ago, it really bothered me because I felt that by applying my understanding of Christian Science I should have been able to prevent the illness. Now I had to deal with not only the flu but also with my frustration about it. I did this by prayerfully turning to God.
I realized that anything opposed to God's infinite harmony and goodness, such as sickness and frustration, cannot exist in reality and thus must be a false belief. And I saw the futility of getting upset about a false belief. Within a brief time I was healed of the flu as well as of my frustration. I had learned that there was really nothing to get upset about.
