River living

As the Spirit invites us,
let's come and drink freely
(right now! why wait?)
of the radiant water of life,
the stream of spiritual delights.

When we open up to drink
from the ceaseless, brimming fountain,
we discover it feeds
our every thought and action.

We are cleansed and filled
with all we need—
nourishment, purpose, vitality, joy—
and we, too, overflow
and share as we've received.

We never need hoard our supply
for the source is boundless.
God bids us drink from the river,
not the puddle, of His pleasures!

God, Love, gives us living water,
always fresh, moving, and pure,
richly fulfilling our present need,
each drink a new experience.

There's no settled backwater living
for the spiritual drinker.
Stagnant patterns are swept away,
and we find ourselves, as the river,
fresh and lively every moment.
