Commanding stones
With the rod of God
Moses struck the rock
and waters flowed forth.
Out of a flinty rock
a spring fountained!
In another wilderness,
to a hungry Jesus, Satan twisted:
"Command that these stones
be made bread"—(a look-alike).
But he (who was "the bread of life") wasn't tricked.
He tossed aside evil's stony
self-centered whisperings:
self-will,
self-righteousness,
self-love
(chips off the old block—egotism).
Finally,
after countless proofs that matter can't circumscribe life,
he rolled away the tomb's stone,
and the living waters of Truth came forth—
so that we, too,
can dispel adamant ignorance
with the solvent called Love—
with the rinsing/refreshing/resurrecting Truth!
