At home—always

When he left my house,
At times I was tempted
By the fear, the darkness at noon,
The never knowing when/if
He was coming home.

I searched faces on the road,
Praying to see his,
To know that he still
Walked upon the earth.

Then I, the parent, called out
To the Father-Mother of us all, and
God the Father-Mother very gently
Whispered, "All is well."

So I waited, patient at the road.
I saw my son from a long way off.
I knew him and I knew that
He'd never really ever left
His Father-Mother's home.
