I would like to tell of a healing I had several years ago. I began to suffer much discomfort in my abdomen and back, and this condition troubled me day and night. I never spoke of it to my family. After praying about it, I called a Christian Science practitioner. He agreed to pray for me, and after that we were in touch periodically.

Many nights when I couldn't sleep I would get up and listen to cassette tapes of hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal. Also, this passage in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy was very inspiring(p. 346): "We treat error through the understanding of Truth, because Truth is error's antidote. If a dream ceases, it is self-destroyed, and the terror is over. When a sufferer is convinced that there is no reality in his belief of pain,—because matter has no sensation, hence pain in matter is a false belief,—how can he suffer longer?" I knew this was true, and it was proved in the following experience.

One morning I woke after experiencing a night dream that was so vivid I felt quite shaken. I was so tense and frightened that for a moment I still believed the dream was real. When I finally realized I was waking from a dream that had no bearing on daily life, I at once saw the illusory nature of the physical problem that had been troubling me. I knew so completely that I was healed of that dreamlike belief, that I immediately called the practitioner to tell him I was healed and thank him for his prayers. Prior to this I had made plans to go on a trip with a friend, and now I was free to do this without any doubts. The physical difficulty simply left me. I am so grateful for this wonderful, permanent healing.
