Superstition: a belief or practice resulting from ignorance, fear of the unknown, trust in magic or chance, or a false conception of causation.

Being caught out by the belief that man is material is something every Christian Scientist tries to guard against. "Stand porter at the door of thought," Mrs. Eddy tells us in her book Science and Health. "Admitting only such conclusions as you wish realized in bodily results, you will control yourself harmoniously." Science and Health, p. 392.
