Why spiritual healing matters

When Christians make the commitment to turn their lives over to God, they find a special joy in relying on Him for guidance in every area of their experience. In effect they choose the standard of living that Christ Jesus set forth in the Lord's Prayer as he directed his disciples to pray to the Father "Thy will be done ...." Matt. 6:10.

With such a wholehearted commitment, some Christians also choose to rely exclusively on God for healing. If they are confronted with illness or injury or any other difficulty, they pray. They gratefully acknowledge God as the unfailing source of comfort, strength, and freedom. The healing law of God is their first resort regardless of the challenge they may be facing.

But people may sometimes wonder if it really matters where one puts his reliance for healing. If spiritual healing brings physical release and if material means or medical treatment also offers a cure, why does it matter that one chooses to turn to God for healing?
