Arriving at our true status

True status does not come through any material means—a job, title, fame, marriage, or whatever. Man's true status is his spiritual identity as the beloved child of God.

The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, quite boldly cut through personal prestige and aura, and every other human measurement of status, and said this: "He is bravely brave who dares at this date refute the evidence of material sense with the facts of Science, and will arrive at the true status of man because of it." Miscellaneous Writings, p. 183.

The most basic evidence of material sense that needs refuting is the apparent condition of man as flesh and blood, a mortal. Unless an individual begins to see the illusiveness of this, he is apt to spend his life running down the wrong paths, looking for status in every direction but the right one.
