Honoring our parents

Much has been written about the relationship of parents to their children. What about the other side of the coin? As we go onward in our human experience, we find that our relationship as an adult to our parents becomes one that demands clear thinking on a spiritual basis. How can Christian Science help us with this? Christian Science is absolute Science; it tells us the truth of God and man—of spiritual reality—and this truth can be applied to every human experience.

One way of applying Christianly scientific thinking is to replace false beliefs with the spiritual facts of being. In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mrs. Eddy points out, "How true it is that whatever is learned through material sense must be lost because such so-called knowledge is reversed by the spiritual facts of being in Science." Science and Health, p. 312.

What, then, are some of the suggestions that material sense presents to us in connection with our parents, so-called knowledge that needs to be reversed? And what are the spiritual facts with which we can destroy these aggressive suggestions?
