No fear on the mountain
On holiday in Italy, Marion and her father, mother, brother, and sister were waiting to go up the mountain in a chairlift that would climb three thousand feet to the top.
They watched as the empty chairs came down the mountain, swung round the big metal wheel in the station, and then on up the mountain again. Dad was to go in the first chair, then her sister Joy, then her brother Rob, then Marion, then Mother.
She watched Dad, Joy, and Rob get in their chairs and swing off up the mountainside. Then the attendant lifted her into the moving chair, and she was off. But he hadn't pushed down the bar that was supposed to hold her safely in. That meant there was nothing in front of her to hold on to, and nothing to put her feet on either. ...
