Christ's redeeming power

Our strength to meet every crisis

We are not alone in trying to cope. Right where turmoil and danger threaten, we can know the healing Christ-power, the manifestation of divine Love. The Psalmist's reassurance pervades the Scriptures: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Ps. 46:1.

Neither fears nor feelings of inadequacy can thwart the Christ-power. Think of how well this was illustrated when Peter tried to walk across the water to Jesus. At first he succeeded, but then the boisterous wind made him afraid. He began to sink, crying, "Lord, save me." Matt. 14:30. Immediately Jesus reached out and caught him, and they reached the ship safely.

A miracle? To human view, yes. But more accurately, it was an illustration of the universal law of Love, manifested in the Christ-power. Christ Jesus proved this power again and again by coping with sickness, sin, and death, overcoming them through spiritual law. He knew the source of this power to be God, and its availability to be universal. He said, "I can of mine own self do nothing" John 5:30. and "The Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works." John 14:10. He affirmed that those who accepted his teachings would be able to heal as he did. The Apostle Paul bore witness to the enabling action of the Christ-power when he said, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Phil. 4:13.
