FROM THE DIRECTORS
We are pleased to announce our approval of recent steps taken by the Board of Trustees of The Christian Science Publishing Society.
At different periods in the history of the Publishing Society, the role of the Board of Trustees has taken on different emphasis depending on the needs of the times. For example, in Mary Baker Eddy's era the Trustees met less frequently than they have in recent years, took a much less active role in the day-to-day operations of the Publishing Society, and often held other positions jointly with their responsibilities as Trustees.
In more recent years the Trustees had been actively involved in the running of the Society. In the latter half of last year, however, they saw that a stronger role for the Manager, carefully monitored by a Board of Trustees more nearly approximating the Board of Mrs. Eddy's day, offered an appropriate change for this period in our history.
