With deep gratitude I would like to share two of the ever-occurring evidences of spiritual growth and progress that the demonstration of Christian Science has brought to my life.
One day I was mowing the yard with a power mower when I ran into a concealed object. This caused the rear of the machine to lift and my foot to slide into the blades. The front of my tennis shoe was severed, and there was evidence of injury.
As a new student of Christian Science, I was just beginning to recognize the importance of denying the belief in accidents. We read in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 424): "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony." Desiring to act in accord with my conviction that this statement was true, I continued to mow the grass, refusing to stop and examine the false evidence of injury.
