It is with gratitude to God that I write this testimony

It is with gratitude to God that I write this testimony. One day a small bump on one of my eyelids became sore. I knew I could be healed in Christian Science. As I read the Bible Lesson outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly, this passage from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy stood out clearly to me (p. 390): "Suffer no claim of sin or of sickness to grow upon the thought. Dismiss it with an abiding conviction that it is illegitimate, because you know that God is no more the author of sickness than He is of sin." I endeavored to obey this admonition. Soon I was well and was very grateful for this healing of my eye.

Some years ago I was faced with a different type of challenge. I was working as a butcher but felt that I needed a change. An opportunity came, and I left the butcher shop for employment in an engineering works. However, in time I lost my job. In our town there was a great deal of unemployment; many factories were closing down, and I felt concerned. Some people murmured, "Oh, you won't get another job. You're too old." But I called on a friend, a Christian Science practitioner, and she helped me greatly.

One statement I will always remember is from page 258 of Science and Health: "God expresses in man the infinite idea forever developing itself, broadening and rising higher and higher from a boundless basis." I could see that my employment was not just that of serving people but of affirming and demonstrating God's omnipotence.
