I had just completed my grocery shopping and was driving out...

I had just completed my grocery shopping and was driving out of the parking lot, when I noticed that the diamond was missing from my engagement ring. I wondered what to do. Then I reached out to divine Mind, God, for help.

The first thought that came was to return to the store and leave my name, in case anyone found the diamond—something that, at that moment, seemed more ridiculous than plausible. But since that was the direction that had come, that is what I did. The manager of the store expressed her concern when I told her what had happened, and the cashier helped me look around her area, but—no diamond. The manager pointed out that it could have been lost anywhere, but I did not want to return home without looking around there first.

As I did, I knew that all the things the diamond represented to me—love and devotion, for example—were still present, and this made me grateful. I continued looking on shelves and down various aisles. At the end of the last aisle, I reached out again to God. I silently declared that He is ever present and that His ever present care was meeting my need right then, every moment.
