Needing God

I need You all the moments of my day.
I have You.
No force can keep Your care from me,
Resist, divert, delay.
Your love
Will fell whole forests of whispering fears,
Dry up lakes of impatient, angry tears.
With You
I'm not afraid I'll lose my way.
I can't be stranded, won't be ambushed,
Sidetracked, led astray.
I can hear Your voice,
Distinct, assuring, strong.
Your hand is close.
I feel Your smile, so warming, calm.
I can't be alone,
You're here each move I make.
I won't go wrong.
Your direction
Is the only one I take.
Thank You
For opening up the way.

The truth is I'm Your treasured child.
With Your help I'll find and trace
The inner path that gains perfection,
Climb to meet You face to face.
Your father-mothering will sustain me,
Beneath Your wings I'll stay.
I need You, how I need You,
Who'd want it any other way?
