FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

AN HONEST MAN

"I'm sure I'll get my wallet back!" Anna said out loud. She was working in the college library and at two o'clock had discovered that her wallet had been stolen. Everyone was sympathetic but said it was hopeless.

Anna reported the theft to the security office but prayed earnestly not to accept as true the tormenting thought that she would never see her wallet again. Besides the twenty dollars for her commuter tickets, the wallet also contained her driver's license and several important identification cards.

The afternoon dragged on, and although the other librarians tried to be helpful, their vivid stories about stolen articles and the dishonesty of people in general didn't help. Anna found it encouraging, though, to remember the truths she had learned in Christian Science. Christ Jesus said, "There is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed." Luke 12:2. But she wondered, Is my prayer enough?
