FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
"Who can steal from you?"
During exams in my senior year of college I was ignoring most people and situations, devoting all my attention to schoolwork. Then suddenly a number of my possessions were stolen.
I lived in a college dorm, where we rarely locked our rooms, and at first I was stunned. I did have an idea who might have done this, because over the past several months, others in the dorm had missed jewelry, money, and clothes. Everyone suspected one girl. But right then I didn't want to have to spend any time thinking about it. I just wanted to get my things back and go on with my studies.
However I had been taught as a child, "Thou shalt not steal," Ex. 20:15. so I knew stealing was wrong. I also had been learning in Christian Science that we can always turn to God for answers to our problems. So, humbly, I stayed in my room and prayed to God. Immediately a quietness came, and I felt His love and care. Then the simple solution stood out: Go to the girl and ask her for your things. As a child I had learned to obey my mom and dad; so it seemed natural to obey my Father-Mother God.
