Release from self-condemnation
Do you ever mentally chastise yourself for some human failing that you might readily forgive in others?
Guilt feelings, sometimes a private torment amounting to anguish, aren't necessarily prods of conscience. They can be effects of upbringing and may point to a need for healing rather than genuine remorse. But whether some element of wrongdoing on our part is involved or not, there is divine release available from any painful pressure of self-condemnation.
Our Saviour, Christ Jesus, said, "God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." John 3:17.
