Four years ago my husband and I were well settled in a house, when we felt led to look into building a new house in an area where we had never ventured before. We explored a site with a running stream and a series of falls and rapids, among huge boulders and tall pine trees. It portended something of a dream come true for my husband, who had wanted to live near running water since childhood. And the site seemed to be waiting for us, as many others had apparently passed it by, thinking it to be too small and difficult.

We spent our spare time over the next two years viewing every aspect of the terrain and praying for guidance. By the time all was planned and ready for construction, the nation was in the depths of an economic recession. Nevertheless, we continued to pray to be directed "to walk in all [God's] ways" (Deut. 10:12). As a result we were gently but firmly led to take one step at a time. Within a few weeks after construction of our new house had begun, our former house was sold to a cash buyer and we were given ample time to complete the new one. In turn, the buyer's house was sold within a few weeks.

Throughout the period of construction, the loving guidance of our heavenly Father was plain; and we expressed much gratitude for the minutest detail accomplished and for the prayerful support given by a Christian Science practitioner we had called. "With constant care, His tender love/All human need supplies" (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 327). We are so grateful for the beautiful way this very rewarding experience unfolded.
