Reading the testimonies at the end of issues of The Christian Science Journal and the Sentinel is a genuine source of inspiration to me. It is reassuring to have this constant supply of accredited testimonies coming into our home monthly and weekly.

Ever since I began the study of Christian Science my freshman year at college, the first commandment (Ex. 20:3), "Thou shalt have no other gods before me," has been my guide.

Early that year I met a fellow student who made what seemed to me very bold claims about the healing element of Christianity. Spiritual healing was something I had always wanted to believe in but had felt it had no validity in this "scientific age." Whenever I visited the student union I looked for this individual so that we could discuss the issue further. After several of these discussions, he introduced me to a book that changed my life: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy—the Christian Science textbook.
