At a time of great unhappiness and disillusionment,...
At a time of great unhappiness and disillusionment, I was led to the study of Christian Science. Living by myself in a large city, without a friend in the world, I was desperately lonely. One evening, feeling in great need, I reached out to God for help. Those hours of deep soul-searching brought about a turning point in my life.
The very next morning I felt compelled to go to a nearby public library. There I saw a copy of the Christian Science textbook by Mary Baker Eddy on the shelf. The title of this book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, appealed strongly to me. (Up until that point I had never heard of Christian Science.) I borrowed the book and began reading the last chapter, called "Fruitage," which contains testimonies by people who were healed through reading Science and Health.
