Watching, and praying for the Mind of Christ
Of deep significance to those who would practice Christian Science is an invitation issued by the Apostle Paul. He instructed Christians, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus." Phil. 2:5.
In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy incorporates Paul's invitation into the Tenets of this Science. Therefore, adherents of our religion pledge, "And we solemnly promise to watch, and pray for that Mind to be in us which was also in Christ Jesus; to do unto others as we would have them do unto us; and to be merciful, just, and pure." Science and Health, p. 497.
It is true that man's spiritual individuality actually hasn't been and can't be separated from its creator, God—the divine Mind that Jesus represented. But we too must demonstrate our original and ultimate oneness with Mind, and prove that perfect Mind is the only Mind. And we can do this only in proportion as, through watching and praying, we let infinite Mind be represented in us.
