The platform of Christian Science
Basically, platforms are elevated for better visibility, constructed strongly for stability, and rendered accessible by steps. We might say that the platform of Christian Science, which is a metaphysical structure, also includes these elements and ensures that those who have chosen to stand on it will feel uplifted, strong, and close to God. This platform is found in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. See Science and Health, pp. 330–340; see also Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy, Art. IV, Sect. 1, and Art. XXVII, Sect. 3. In the thirty-two numbered paragraphs of this platform she explains the fundamentals of Christian Science. It is a platform that truly elevates thought, undergirds spiritual position, and provides necessary spiritual steps.
As he understands these fundamentals, the student of Christian Science gains a firm basis with a high vantage point. He can begin to comprehend the thoroughness of the teachings and their healing effect. Adopting the platform of Christian Science, we take steps upward from a material basis of thinking and living to a better perspective on earthly problems as always subordinate to heavenly solution. We feel the strength and firmness of divine law.
On this platform there can be no halfway position. Standing with Truth is never inaction or passive waiting but active utilization of the planks. We are unafraid of error's noisy rushings. Relying on the Christ-power, we look above the unreality of material woes to the spiritual reality, knowing that the effort to be faithful is never in vain.
