For fifty years Christian Science has been at work weaving a pattern in my life. Mrs. Eddy writes (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 99), "To weave one thread of Science through the looms of time, is a miracle in itself." It is for this miracle that I express my gratitude to God.

My introduction to Christian Science came through my grandmother, when she gave me a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy as I was leaving home for my third year of junior college. (This was a three-year college.) The previous two years had been near failures. The year before, I had been sent home before the end of the term because I had disobeyed school rules. The current school had been selected for me by my folks, who were hoping for better results. It was at this new school that I met a student of Christian Science. Seeing the copy of Science and Health on my table, she invited me to attend the Christian Science Sunday School with her.

Science and Health states (p. 449): "A grain of Christian Science does wonders for mortals, so omnipotent is Truth, but more of Christian Science must be gained in order to continue in well doing." That "a grain of Christian Science does wonders" was certainly proved to be true in my case. A spiritual sense was quickly awakened in me, and with it came a sincere desire to do right and to apply myself to my studies. I felt ashamed of my record of the previous year and wanted to correct it. So, I wrote to that school and asked if I might return there for my senior year. I was accepted on probation. This decision made it possible for me to attend the Sunday School of The Mother Church whenever I went home on weekends, as my home was in a suburb of Boston.
