In my yearning to know and understand God better, I attended a Christian Science Sunday School about five years ago, when I was freshman in college. With the loving guidance of my Sunday School teachers, and through my own study of the Bible, and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, I experienced a wonderful spiritual awakening. I soon relied wholly upon Christian Science for healing physical ailments and other difficulties. During this period I became a member of The Mother Church and a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, in a small town near Manila.

Two years ago the annual lecture of our branch church was scheduled for March. I was assigned to be one of the ushers. On the afternoon of the lecture, my aunt and I took a jeepney to the church. At the end of the ride, just as I stepped down from the back of the jeepney, another vehicle following us apparently lost its brakes and crashed into the back of our jeepney. My legs were pinned with extreme force between the fenders of the two vehicles.

I remember saying at once, "Perfect God, perfect man. I'm the perfect child of God," before I fell to the pavement in great pain. Several bystanders came to my rescue, asking if they could take me to the nearest hospital. But my aunt told them we were Christian Scientists and asked that we be taken to our church.
