Feeding humanity's hunger for healing

Was Christ Jesus instructing all his disciples when he instructed Simon Peter, "Feed my sheep"? John 21:17. The early disciples evidently thought so. They went about teaching the power of Christ, Truth, and healing without material aid; thus they followed Jesus' command by following his example. We can follow, too. Humanity is hungering today for the redeeming and restoring power of Christ, Truth.

Humanity's hunger for this restorative power calls upon us for proof to satisfy it. And proof can only come through consecrated prayer and practice. We can do our part to feed Christ's flock by actively healing ourselves and others, thus going further than just offering hope of healing.

Mary Baker Eddy once told a Christian Scientist: "The sheep do not thrive well on stubble. They need the tender grass and clover tops with their blossoms of honey-dew. The pastures of the heart need the dew of heaven to moisten their dry surface and the 'early and latter rain' of that Love which 'thinketh no evil.'" Robert Peel, Mary Baker Eddy: The years of Authority (New York: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1977), p. 87 .
