A place to begin healing
I've noticed that a small bird on the ground immediately flies upward when it senses danger. If it spies an approaching cat, the bird does not stop to consider whether the cat has malicious purposes or is just passing by. The bird instinctively rises to a higher position, thereby gaining a better perspective and control of the situation.
If you are seeking healing through Christian Science, the bird provides a useful lesson. All too often we mentally stay on the ground dialoguing with advancing sin or disease. The enemy may come upon and temporarily overwhelm us if we do not rise to a higher position. This rising takes study, prayer, and practice.
Mrs. Eddy describes the desired position in Science and Health: "The starting-point of divine Science is that God, Spirit, is All-in-all, and that there is no other might nor Mind,—that God is Love, and therefore He is divine Principle." Science and Health, p. 275.
