I'm deeply grateful for the healing Christ made practical in Christian Science.
At times, for over thirty years, I suffered internally. Through my own efforts or with the help of a Christian Science practitioner, I would get relief. But full healing did not come. In fact, the condition seemed to get worse. So I decided to pray for enlightenment, without regard to relief from the pain. I prayed to know what false belief about man to handle specifically. About four days later, there flashed vividly before thought an episode of the past.
One time, our young daughter had ridden her pony over to a neighbor's and come home riding an unbroken stallion that had only been ridden once by an experienced horseman. She rode bareback with only a bridle on the horse. As I saw them coming down our lane the horse seemed to be flying—he was moving so rapidly. I ran out to pull my daughter off, but fell before I got to her, hitting a part of my body against a concrete block. Jumping up, I ran on, grabbed the horse's reins, and pulled my daughter off. Later, after the difficult job of getting the stallion back to its owners, many household duties kept me occupied, and I neglected to handle a sense of shock and fear.
