I feel compelled to write this testimony in order to show that the truth as explained in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, heals severe addiction as well as heart trouble.

As a young man I made some serious mistakes and was sent to jail, where I was exposed to more evil habits. After my release, drug pushers introduced me to heroin and how to acquire it. By this time I felt that no one cared what happened to me. So over the years I fell deeper into bad habits. I was again apprehended. Charged with possession of heroin, a drug that I had now been addicted to for twenty years, I was held in the Los Angeles County jail pending my trial. I felt physically sick, resentful, discouraged, and depressed.

Christian Science was introduced to me by an institutional worker, who came to my cell one day and asked if I wanted to attend Christian Science services. I accepted and went to the services. At one of them an usher gave me a copy of Science and Health. I read this book through and through several times and attended the services each week.
