Whenever our weekly Bible Lesson in the Christian Science Quarterly is on the subject "Soul," I am reminded of how much the study and understanding of God, Soul, has meant to me in my career as an artist.
Quite a number of years ago I had a talk with a teacher of Christian Science who was very much interested in the fact that I was earning my living as an artist. He asked me how I prayed in Christian Science concerning my art work. At that time I was designing greeting cards, and I replied something like this, "I think of the cards as expressions of friendship." He picked up a picture from his desk and said, "Do you think of a material picture as art?" I did, but I could see that he wanted me to think in a more spiritual way. He explained that the art of real being is the unfoldment of Soul.
That concept seemed rather obscure. But afterward I kept thinking about it, trying to understand what he had meant. Using the Concordance to Mrs. Eddy's writings, I studied all the references to
