A reminder from Sarge
Everything was going well with my Saturday gardening when suddenly I looked up and saw Sarge, our German shepherd dog, running across the front yard and heading across the street. He had slipped out through a partially opened gate. Sarge is supposed to stay inside our fenced yard according to the town leash law.
"Sarge come back," I called. He paid no attention and ran faster. Soon he was racing through a neighbor's garden and barking at a fenced-in puppy.
My wife joined in the chase. We called him again and again, but Sarge continued to ignore us. Next he was at the end of the street, scaring two smaller dogs. We were afraid he might run in front of a passing car.
