A dramatic experience, where healing is involved, certainly can do a great deal to solidify in our thought the basic spiritual truth of Christian Science that God is All.

I had such an experience in my early years of studying Science, and I am profoundly grateful for it. Not only was I quickly healed, but I also discovered for myself that "God is no respecter of persons" (Acts 10:34). He cares for and protects every one of His beloved children at all times.

At the time of my healing, I had just applied for membership in a local branch Church of Christ, Scientist. I was then employed by the local utility company as an engineer working on electric sales. As a power engineer, I was responsible for making load tests in various industrial plants. On a cold November day, four of us were making these load tests. Typical of the times, a few large electric motors located in various parts of the plant were used to drive line shafts from which the various smaller machines received their power. In order not to interrupt the plant operation, we were making our load tests "hot." Heavy power lines fed each motor through three wires. Without stopping a motor, we could "break" one line at a time and insert an ammeter to measure the electrical power being consumed. These tests were done at electrical fuse boxes where fuses protected the motor. We would pull one fuse at a time to take our electrical readings, then go on to the next test.
