"In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul" (Ps. 138:3). There was a day when I cried out to God for strength and comfort. The answer came when I was led to Christian Science and, thereby, to strength, comfort, and healing.

In my desperation following a second miscarriage, I began reading our textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. (The book was in our home because my husband was a student of Christian Science.) Realizing very soon that this book held the answer for me, I asked that a planned visit to a medical specialist be canceled. Then I began to study the Bible Lesson in the Christian Science Quarterly, to attend Sunday services and Wednesday testimony meetings in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and to read the Christian Science periodicals.

One day, some months later, a sentence from Science and Health kept sounding in my thought with such insistence that I looked it up (p. 428): "We must realize the ability of mental might to offset human misconceptions and to replace them with the life which is spiritual, not material." Pondering this wonderful message, I suddenly saw where I had been mistaken. I had been thinking of life as material and, therefore, as capable of being lost. Whereas, since Spirit is All and everywhere—the only real Life—there is no place for Life to lose itself.
