The One who is always right
During a business appointment I noted a wall placard that read:
Rules of the Establishment:
Rule #1. The boss is always right.
Rule #2. When the boss makes a mistake, refer to Rule #1.
It reminded me of an experience of a young man I knew. He arrived home one Friday evening overwhelmed with frustration because of a disagreement with his boss. It was payday, and the amount of commission paid him was far less than the amount he knew was due. But his employer insisted that the computation was correct and the payment final. Their parting had been strained.
Because the young man was confident that he was right, both he and his wife were tempted to be resentful, and also fearful of the loss of income. But how to cope with a boss who insisted that the issue was closed?
