One helpful view of the Bible is to see it as the record of mankind's search for a deeper understanding of God. In this context, it's a book of provocative questions, as well as a book of unparalleled answers to the enigmas of human experience. It contains the Word of God. And a strong spiritual inquisitiveness is necessary to understand the Bible's healing message of truth.

A search of any depth must involve questioning. "What is God?" is the question ringing through the centuries. Christian Scientists hold Christ Jesus to be the clearest demonstrator of the answer to that question. Because his life shows forth so transparently God's nature, we refer to Christ Jesus as the Way-shower.
