FOR CHILDREN
Getting ready for school
Chris had liked kindergarten. He was glad when September came and he could be a first-grader and go to school on the school bus like the big kids.
But it wasn't long before Mom and Daddy noticed a change in the way Chris felt toward school. First grade wasn't fun, he said. And his new teacher was stern with everyone. Chris was sure she didn't like him. She'd even told Mom that Chris was a disturbance.
He thought there was too much work to do and too many rules to remember. Even the school bus ride was unhappy—the big boys always picked on the little ones. It made Chris's stomach hurt just to think about it! His friends felt the same way, too.
