A new dimension to life

It's when you go deeper than material appearances that the answers come. To a people surrounded by the worship of idols and tribal deities, Moses gave the foundational truth of "the living God," ^{Deut. 5:26.} the unseen but all-embracing I am. To a nation straying from the one God, Jeremiah denounced faith in "broken cisterns" and described God as "the fountain of living waters." ^{See Jer. 2:13.} And to people today, ensnared in earthly cares and mortal knowledge, Christian Science unfolds the one and only "living God" as Life itself, the fountain of illimitable truth, the divine Spirit that includes the answer to every human perplexity.

Christ Jesus saw God as Life and as the all-loving Father. He said, "As the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself." ^{John 5:26.} The Master made plain the role of the Christ, Truth, to redeem mankind: "I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever" ^{6:51 .} and also, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." ^{10:10 .} How can we gain more of this life? The Science of Christ makes plain the answer.

Each of the words applied in Christian Science to the Supreme Being broadens and elucidates the others. For example, Life is Mind and therefore Life is conscious Being characterized by supreme intelligence—all-knowing, perfect, all-comprehending, including neither ignorance nor fear nor unresolved dilemmas. Such is the real Life of man, the Life that is really ours to express.
