Our daughter had a significant healing

Our daughter had a significant healing. She had been having increasingly severe headaches, earaches, and loss of appetite. A Christian Science practitioner prayed for her daily, but the youngster's relief was only temporary; any activity aggravated the symptoms. After a difficult and sleepless week, my wife and I decided we could no longer physically care for the needs of our daughter. After discussing this with the practitioner, we decided to place the child in a sanatorium for Christian Scientists, and to work with a practitioner who lived near the facility.

The next day our daughter was admitted to the sanatorium. The practitioner gave us some passages to study from the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. A verse from Psalms (45: 13), "The king's daughter is all glorious within," reminded us that in reality our daughter was forever manifesting the perfect glory of God as His beloved expression. And the following statement helped us understand that God's immortal law would establish in our thinking and our lives a truer sense of health that subordinates material evidence (Science and Health, p. 162): "Christian Science brings to the body the sunlight of Truth, which invigorates and purifies. Christian Science acts as an alterative, neutralizing error with Truth. It changes the secretions, expels humors, dissolves tumors, relaxes rigid muscles, restores carious bones to soundness. The effect of this Science is to stir the human mind to a change of base, on which it may yield to the harmony of the divine Mind."

Our daughter was then twelve years old and had always attended a Christian Science Sunday School. The practitioner worked directly with the youngster, although my wife was staying at the sanatorium to be near our daughter. In addition to his prayer, the practitioner gave the child a number of citations to study from the Bible and Science and Health. Our daughter also received loving care from the Christian Science nurses.
