Many months ago I began to feel that friends, especially church members, were abandoning me, no longer supporting me; and also that for some reason I was incapable of putting into practice the healing truths I'd learned in Christian Science.
At one point these mesmeric fears and doubts seemed so real that I became overwhelmed until I finally thought I'd lost sight of reality altogether. The result was that I felt deeply depressed. I even considered doing away with myself.
One day while I was in this distraught state, a fellow Christian Scientist called me on the telephone. During our conversation he must have detected that something wasn't right because he asked if he could come by to see me. During his visit, this friend encouraged me in a most tender and compassionate manner, reminding me that God and His spiritual creation never change, and that as His idea I could not help expressing Him—despite the apparent situation.
