In We Knew Mary Baker Eddy, it is related that one day Mrs. Eddy asked her students what the best way was to bring about instantaneous healing. There were many answers to this question, and when all had finished, Mrs. Eddy declared (p. 134): "I will tell you the way to do it. It is to love! Just live love—be it—love, love, love. Do not know anything but Love. Be all love. There is nothing else. That will do the work. It will heal everything; it will raise the dead. Be nothing but love."

I have been able to prove this healing power of Love for myself on a number of occasions. The result has been healings of a stomach disorder, severe cramps in the legs, disturbed sleep, and the recovery of lost or stolen articles, including a diamond ring. When I have turned to God, knowing that He is Love—all-encompassing Love, the only power—and have consciously made the effort to see this Love expressed around me, healing has come.

One time, during the night, I woke up unable to breathe. It felt as if I was suffocating. I struggled hard. When I realized that there was no one around, I was suddenly gripped with fear, thinking, "Oh, I'm alone. What will I do?" Then came the thought, "No, you are not alone." And I realized this was true. I thought of Christ Jesus' words from the Bible (Matt. 28:20), "Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world." I felt enfolded in the presence of the Christ. The breathing difficulty stopped immediately.
