FROM THE DIRECTORS

We are pleased to announce the appointment of J. Anthony Periton as Manager of The Christian Science Publishing Society, effective June 8, 1981. Mr. Periton has served as Acting Manager since April 17, when he succeeded Alason H. Franking, who retired. We are very grateful for Mr. Franking's dedication and his valuable contribution to the work of the Publishing Society in several key positions over the past ten years.

After successfully developing his own business in Great Britain and subsequently selling it to a large conglomerate, Mr. Periton joined the Publishing Society as consultant in London in January 1975. Shortly thereafter he was appointed to the full-time position of Supervisor of International Sales Development. Then in October 1979 he became International Operations Manager based in London, where his principal activities concerned the various publications of the Publishing Society, including the weekly international edition of The Christian Science Monitor. He was also responsible for working closely with the Monitor Coordinating Support Teams appointed by the Board of Trustees of the Publishing Society in a number of countries outside the United States.

Mr. Periton is a member of The Mother Church, and before moving to the United States he was active in a London branch where he served as First Reader and chairman of the board. He was educated at The Principia, the London School of Economics, and Cambridge University.
