Of Love's steadiness
My heart was resentful:
Why?
Why must I?
I who have worked and prayed
to see the Way—
why must I bear this cross of envy, fear?
Didn't I read and hear?
Didn't I put Truth into practice?
(Yes, several recent healings confirm this.)
So, why?
Because the footsteps can't always be easy:
The roughest part of any mountain to be overcome
is the rocky heap nearest the summit.
The forever heeding and rising
demand the pilgrim to glean through—
not glide through—
Truth's eternal harvest.
Until—gently, yet suddenly—
the proving ground is smooth and plain
And all
my days
are buoyant
with praise!
