Before I knew about Christian Science, I suffered for many years from occasional biliousness and from circulatory and functional problems. I took a lot of medicine, but nothing helped me.

Then, when I found Christian Science, I was so absorbed in the truths I was learning and so happy to have found a practical religion that I completely forgot about my ailments and the medicine prescribed for them. Only after quite some time did I realize that I was completely healed. In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy tells us (p. 261), "Look away from the body into Truth and Love, the Principle of all happiness, harmony, and immortality." This new view of reality brought me healing. Since then Science has been a strong help to me in every situation.

One day I was seized with great pain in my legs, arms, and joints. Finally all my limbs became immobile. Despite efforts to solve this problem through Science, the condition lingered for quite some time. Finally, a Christian Science practitioner lovingly pointed out that more gratitude and joy on my part were necessary. Together we affirmed that an active expression of these qualities would bring the spiritual inspiration that removes all stagnation.
