Midnight-hour gratitude

Sometimes the most effective healings come about at the midnight hour, our darkest time, when we lift ourselves above the shadows and joyfully acknowledge the allness of Life, Truth, and Love. With firm confidence in God's government, we turn from suffering and declare the glory of His goodness, completeness, and perfection as our own true being.

Present perfection is a reality of God as stated in the Bible and explained in Christian Science. Healing is a demonstration of this fact. When health is restored, we are naturally thankful, and most of us will say so. But Mrs. Eddy writes: "Gratitude is much more than a verbal expression of thanks. Action expresses more gratitude than speech." Science and Health, p. 3;

Action that grows out of gratitude is based on confidence in God's eternal love for man and His unshakable control of the universe. Rejoicing in God's care, we know that as His children we are recipients of His immeasurable bounty. Gratitude-induced action moves on the axis of eternal harmony and thankfulness for good we have already been given. This is the highest form of praise for God.
