One day, while I was stepping out the front door, my foot...
One day, while I was stepping out the front door, my foot twisted; I fell and ended up flat on my back. Unhurt, except for the top of my foot and ankle, which were quite painful, I hopped back into the apartment. There I sat down and affirmed my sonship with God. I knew that I was truly His idea, the image of Spirit. Because there is but one God, whose creation is spiritual and perfect, I could not be made to accept the material belief called accident. Soon the pain subsided. I prayed further, then phoned a Christian Science practitioner for help.
Over a period of two days there was substantial improvement. On Sunday morning I was able to take my place as Reader on the platform of my branch Church of Christ, Scientist, although I walked more slowly than usual. I felt the prayer had accomplished its mission, as healing was increasingly evident. Grateful for this, I dismissed the practitioner.
However, on my way to work Monday I fell once more; and three days later I almost fell a third time, but caught myself. Now I felt an urgency to more fully deny the suggestion of mishap and really understand the truth of God's perfect control over all He has originated. In the reality of being, there has never been a departure from His flawless order.
